Service robot

Robot Town Project

We're conducting a research project called the Robot Town Project. This research aims to develop a management system for distributed sensors like cameras, laser range finders, and IC tags, along with service robots. The goal is for service robots to efficiently perform service tasks for humans in everyday environments.

Tracking of multiple targets Tracking humans in a house
Tracking of 11 people by singe particle filter
Human motion capturing by distributed cameras Robot control by gesture

ROS-TMS (ROS - Town Management System)

We've been developing an informationally structured room designed to support the daily life activities of elderly or disabled individuals. This room naturally and non-invasively integrates different sensor modalities by embedding sensors in the environment. Additionally, we've been creating an operating system to appropriately connect and operate various robots and sensors, managing these sensor/robot modules and the associated database named ROS-TMS (ROS - Town Management System).

Big Sensor Box (B-Sen)

Big Sensor Box (B-Sen) is an experimental house designed for human and robot coexistence, developed using IoRT (Internet of Robots and Things) technology. Located in the COI building on Ito Campus, Kyushu University, the Big Sensor Box includes a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, creating a fully habitable space. ROS-TMS (ROS - Town Management System) is a control system of robots and sensors in this facility.

Elderly care and monitoring system

We're developing a nursing care monitoring system for the elderly, leveraging distributed sensors under the control of ROS-TMS. This system aims to enhance the safety and well-being of seniors by providing continuous, real-time monitoring through advanced sensor technology. This innovative approach ensures that any unusual activity or emergency can be detected and addressed promptly, providing peace of mind for both the elderly and their caregivers.
